THE ACTION PLAN

Creating Media Plans

Social media is at the forefront of online marketing. To stay relevant, organizations are looking to optimize their presence on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok. West CAP, a community action agency in western Wisconsin, was in need of a new approach. 


I worked with two of my peers to research and develop an action plan that helped West CAP find social media success. In my role, I was tasked with managing the project deadlines, authoring content, editing to meet a consistent style, researching effective media practice, and submitting the final document.


A large portion of their intended audience were voting community members who were unfamiliar with community action programs. After reviewing other non-profits and scholarly research on social media marketing, we created a Facebook-focused plan to promote engagement and discovery in their online community.

They already had a start on their facebook presence, so it offered the best approach to influence their online communities. They were also limited heavily by resources. We catered our plan to efficiently utilize their resources by optimizing the content they were already familiar with. We offered considerations for the future if they allocate more resources to their online media.
